Nothing in life prepares us for the unexpected, and often times violent, death of a loved one. We also never expect to become the victim of a violent crime.
While we are exposed to these events every day simply by turning on our TV, or reading a local newspaper, we are naturally unable to imagine that something this horrible could ever happen to us, or someone we love.
SOAR is comprised of families affected by the sudden death of a loved one, victims of a violent crime, and allied professionals, serving as advocates for those who have been affected by a similar traumatic event. The organization's primary focus is on increasing public awareness of the life-long affect that trauma has on the entire family unit, seeking parity in services for all families, and ensuring that victims and survivors are treated with fairness, compassion, and respect.
